The Grace of Giving
Why Should I Give?
Giving expresses your gratitude to God and joins you to what He is doing. God is a lavish giver. The only reasonable response to such generosity is to share with others what God has so freely given us, joining with Him in reaching people and building lives for eternal impact. The Bible does not say God owns 10% and the rest is ours; God owns everything and we are but stewards. The most important question you can ask yourself is, “Am I becoming more generous with my time, talents, and treasure, or more selfish?”
What Is A Tithe?
A tithe is 10%. In the Bible, the giving of a tithe represents a gift of 10% of the first fruits of one’s increase. The tithe is commended by God for believers to support the work of the ministry. Just as 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 addresses the heart and intention of those who give, Malachi 3:8-12 also illustrates the blessings available to those who are obedient with the tithe. We are encouraged to be generous; to give above the tithe in cheerfulness from the remaining income we are to steward.
How Is My Gift Used At Our Savior’s Church?
Your giving envelope and/or online options reflect the primary funds we use at Our Savior’s Church.
Tithe/Offering
This is our general fund, used to support the local ministry and outreach work of Our Savior’s Church.
Legacy
Legacy is the future without you, but still influenced by you. Once a year we receive a Legacy offering where we join together as campuses to finance major expenditures, physical buildings and large-scale outreach efforts. We give our best because God gave His best for us.
Gifts may be given online at any time, or you can bring them with you to any of our weekly services. You may also drop them off at your campus office between the hours of 9-4 during the week, or mail your gift to our accounting office at, 101 Marie Antoinette St, Lafayette, LA 70506.
